Pan Pacific Orchard review: Wade into the pool from your room in the Beach Club Loft
High ceiling and direct access to pool. We review the Beach Club Loft in the newly opened Pan Pacific Orchard.
Pan Pacific Orchard recently opened its door after a 30-million facelift, blooming into its spot behind the Thai embassy in Orchard Road seemingly overnight.
If you've strolled or driven through Orchard Road recently, you might have spotted the Jenga-like exterior and the purple growth lights behind the Thai embassy. Designed by award-winning architecture firm WOHA, the property is defined by four high-volume, open-air nature-inspired environments: Forest, Garden, Beach and Cloud. A show-stopping building, it's easy to see why people often stop in their tracks and pull out their phones to photograph it.
Fast forward to September 2023, and I had a chance to stay in one of the hotel's 347 rooms and suites – specifically the Beach Club Loft – a category allowing guests to wade from their room straight into the pool at level five. At the time of my stay, it was also the opening night of popular spa St. Gregory and the start of a particularly attractive portion of turn-down service – a 15-minute head massage for guests staying in the club rooms and above.

Resort vibes in the middle of Orchard Road
Check-in is located to the right when you alight at the drop-off point, leading you to an open space reception. Checking in on a cool, balmy day means you'll get to enjoy a nice breeze while waiting. I was informed that the design of the reception space – high ceiling, open feature walls – allowed for air circulation, but I still wondered if it could get uncomfortable on particularly humid days.
Upon entering the Beach Club Loft, you may be struck by the compact size of the room, but draw your eyes upwards to the expansive ceiling and let the curtains slide open – you'll see where the room's proposition lies. Vertical space, a private lounger and direct access to pool are enjoyable perks to the room.
It's a stylish room (in fact, the entire hotel oozes style and a resort vibe), though vague design issues may hamper the experience. For example, the bathroom door had handles on the push side, and a knob on the pull side – a curious design choice that caused slight annoyance when I'm trying to get to the bathroom in the middle of the night in a groggy state.
You'll also need to decipher some hieroglyphics in order to figure out which switch opens what, but it's not a deal-breaker in the bigger scheme of things.
That aside, the hotel's 347 rooms and suites are fitted with cool modern conveniences: think in-room filtered water dispensers, reusable bottles made with ocean-bound material, 400-thread-count cotton bedding and luxurious bath amenities by French house Diptyque.
Superb food & beverage offerings in Pan Pacific Orchard
Food and beverage offerings have exceeded expectations from the Pacific Club Lounge at Level 11 to Mediterranean-Peruvian Mosella and bar Florette.
Breakfast is served in Mosella with a quality spread, but do check out the Mediterranean-Peruvian cuisine during lunch and dinner to truly appreciate Mosella's offerings. Go for the set dinner at S$98++ for a taster of some of the best dishes available.
After dinner, head up to destination garden bar Florette for oysters, champagne, or even high tea after lunch. I did not get to try the cocktails during my stay, but the menu looks well crafted, and you can bet it's on my list to visit.
It's a swanky new stay that I would go back to with a couple of girlfriends for a girl's night out – I'm pretty sure it's a good hen's night destination too!
The Beach Club Loft (32 sqm) starts from S$850++.
