Mainland model Yang Zeqi found after going missing at Thai-Myanmar border

15 Jan - Chinese model Yang Zeqi has been located in Myanmar's Myawaddy township after going missing in Thailand last December, according to anti-fraud advocate Ha Zhendong. This development comes shortly after actor Wang Xing's recent rescue from a similar situation in the same region.

Ha, a former victim of trafficking himself, revealed that Yang has been found following significant public pressure and extensive efforts. While Thai police have identified his specific location, the rescue operation requires additional time. Ha added that Yang's family would only need to cover travel expenses, with no ransom demanded.

Like Wang Xing who was recently rescued and has since returned to China, Yang was also lured by the prospect of a job opportunity. He flew to Thailand on December 20 for a supposed movie role and was last traced near the Thailand-Myanmar border.

Yang's family reported that during their last video call with him nine days after his departure, he appeared to have sustained an eye injury. Communication ceased after his phone was turned off, prompting his family to contact police and seek assistance through social media.

Thai authorities have yet to release an official statement regarding Yang's case at the time of writing. However, Ha Zhendong's information is considered highly credible by many due to his personal experience with similar trafficking cases.

This development follows the recent safe return of actor Wang Xing to China on 11 January, who was similarly lured to Thailand for a supposed film project before being held in a compound where he and other victims were forced to train as scammers.
