Henry Golding’s wife Liv Lo reveals she had a miscarriage earlier this year
Henry Golding’s wife, Liv Lo, recently wrote a blog post detailing her pregnancy journey where she revealed that she had suffered a miscarriage in early 2020.
While she shared news of the couple’s successful pregnancy in November, it came as a surprise when Lo took to Instagram on 20 December and wrote, “I have something on my heart that I wanted to share with you, but I don’t think I can share it wholly here.”
The couple have been together for nearly ten years and are currently living in Los Angeles. During her first pregnancy, Lo shared that finding time to be together with Golding during her ovulation window was challenging. However, on New Year’s Day this year, the couple found out that she was pregnant with child. With a busy travel schedule, Lo opted to see an obstetrician-gynaecologist (OBGYN) on the tenth week of her pregnancy.
“Besides a few tummy aches, I was feeling good otherwise,” she wrote.
Lo then revealed that “our baby didn’t have a heartbeat on the first scan” and that she had suffered from a miscarriage. The couple’s fertility doctor had explained that the miscarriage did not mean that she was infertile, but a “bad egg got fertilised.”
To make things worst, Golding was off in Tokyo filming his upcoming superhero movie, Snake Eyes, which is a spin-off of the G.I. Joe film series. Without her husband by her side, Lo had to set an appointment to have the missed abortion procedure on her own.
“Even with friends in LA to support me, going through the process on my own, and then catching up with him in Tokyo meant that he was left out of the emotional journey. All I needed was a big hug after the procedure, but having to wait a week to travel across the world to catch up to each other was pretty traumatic for me,” she revealed.
Then in June 2020, on a regular ultrasound, Lo’s doctor mentioned that she had recently dropped an egg and as the couple had been trying again, it was likely that Lo could be pregnant.
“Because of our past miscarriage, we kept the news private until we hit 20 weeks and we were fully in the clear. Five months felt like a lifetime, but happiness still fills me to overflowing every day as I continue to make the shifts necessary to make space to welcome this miracle into our lives.”
Currently, at 26 weeks, Lo wrote that she is continuing to be a wife and teacher while revamping Fitsphere, her yoga wellness website, to share more of the pregnancy journey.
