Adele’s massive weight loss had been reported in the news for the better part of 2019, and in February 2020, she announced that her fourth studio album, releasing after five years, would be out by September. It was later confirmed that the release had been delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In October 2020, Adele made her first television appearance in almost four years as Saturday Night Live’s host.

8. Ellen DeGeneres

As the host of The Ellen DeGeneres Show since 2003, Ellen DeGeneres has also hosted various prestigious award shows such as the Academy Awards, Grammy Awards, and the Primetime Emmys. During the COVID-19 pandemic, her show faced controversy when accusations of a hostile, racist workplace and alleged staff harassment were reported on Buzzfeed, tipped off by former employees. Several senior staff were fired after an internal investigation, and DeGeneres apologised both to the staff and viewers, vowing to be better in the future.

7. Kylie Jenner

Founder and owner of cosmetic company Kylie Cosmetics, Kylie Jenner topped headlines in 2020 for less than ideal reasons. After being titled the world’s youngest self-made billionaire by Forbes in 2019, the publication released a statement in May 2020 accusing Jenner of forging tax documents to appear as a self-made billionaire and fabricating revenue figures for her cosmetics brand. The Jenner sisters’ fashion brand Kendall + Kylie has also been accused of failing to pay factory workers in Bangladesh during the COVID-19 pandemic.

6. Kim Chiu

Best known as a Filipino actress and television host, Kim Chiu released a song in May 2020 titled ‘Bawal Lumabas: The Classroom Song’, which quickly became the most disliked song in WISH 107.5’s YouTube Channel, raking up over 400,000 dislikes. Accused of being “tone-deaf”, Kim revealed that she had flown her inner circle to her 40th birthday celebration on a private island amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
