Kim Chiu recalls harrowing experience of van shooting

6 Mar – Kim Chiu was teary-eyed as she recalled the harrowing experience that happened on 4 March, when her van was shot by two unidentified men in Quezon City.

The actress, who spoke to ABS-CBN News about the incident, stated that she was supposed to read her script while on her way to the shooting set for her new drama, "Love Thy Woman", but decided to lie down and get some sleep instead.

"Imagine if I didn't feel sleepy and went ahead reading my script, I would have been hit. They shot eight bullets. I saw one of them by the windshield. I was so scared," she said.

Chiu stated that she was awakened from her nap by the sound of the bullets, and asked her driver and personal assistant if they were okay before making several calls including one to her sister.

"Many people were calling and I didn't know what to do. I was inside the car and there were so many police outside including the MMDA. After that, I just hang up," she said.

As to why she went ahead to film her scenes for the series despite what happened, Chiu stated that it might have been the adrenaline rush.

"People are asking me how I was. I don't know. They asked me how I felt. I thought 'yeah, how am I? I got scared why those things are happening. Did the gunman make a mistake? Did they shoot the wrong car I don't know. I don't mean harm to anybody. I am just thankful no one was harmed. I really don't know. It's up to God on how to deal with those two men," she said.

Chiu also expressed her gratitude to those who called and sent her messages asking about her situation and wishing her well, adding that she is planning to talk to her lawyer about doing something about the incident.
