If you, like me, rate a food establishment not just on its food quality and service but its ambience and interior décor as well, the recently opened Bacha Coffee Fashion Avenue at Marina Bay Sands is your go-to dining venue. More than just a café which houses over 200 coffee flavours, it is also a dining and retail establishment with takeaway services to boot. Opened just a few months ago, Bacha Coffee Fashion Avenue models itself after its predecessor found within the magnificent Dar el Bacha palace in Marrakesh, down to its colour scheme, furnishings, utensils and interior décor.
You have probably seen the snaking queue outside Bacha Coffee’s ION Orchard store. I, too, have been there, queueing for at least an hour before excitedly taking my seat, trying out the food and coffee, and going photo-crazy. So, what's the fuss, you may ask?
History of Bacha Coffee
The original Bacha Coffee, founded in 1910 in Marrakesh, was a social haven for the who’s who in the politics, literary and entertainment scene at that time. Allow me to name-drop here. Guests included writer Colette, composer Maurice Ravel, filmmaker Charlie Chaplin, entertainer Josephine Baker, US President Franklin Roosevelt and UK prime minister Winston Churchill, to name a few. The early 1900s was a different time of pomp and splendour. Still, you can now partake in Bacha Coffee's sophisticated elegance in Bacha Coffee Fashion Avenue in Marina Bay Sands Singapore and perhaps get closer to history.

The highly Instagrammable 300 square metres outlet is a capacious dining, retail and takeaway venue, housing a generous space with 54 seats that promises to whisk you away on a sensory experience. Highly reminiscent of its counterpart in Marrakesh, its inlaid black-and-white chequered flooring to intricate white-and-gold latticework, antique mirrored walls, colourful caftans, water drop crystal lights, and tasteful selection of art pieces transport us to Arabic sophistication instantly. Everywhere you turn offers an OOTD opportunity. There's truly nowhere like it in Singapore at the moment.
We can’t guarantee shorter queues at the Fashion Avenue outlet in MBS. All we can share is that at a quarter to 10:00 on a weekday – its official opening time – there were already curious and hungry patrons waiting to enter the premise.

Kickstart a beautiful day or take a pause from your shopping experience and unwind in the coffee room and delight in all-day traditional menu options specially created for every palate. On-the-go guests may indulge in the unique Bacha Coffee takeaway experience, where you can choose from over 200 coffees prepared hot or iced alongside an assortment of 10 multi-coloured signature sweet and savoury croissants and other house-made pastries.
