Feeling the celebratory blues from Chinese New Year? Join in on the festive mood at the Wan Qing Festival of Spring 2025 at SAFRA Punggol from 8 to 9 Feb (Sat & Sun).
Ring in the Year of the Snake with pineapple tart making, yuan xiao and tangyuan (both referring to glutinous rice balls) making workshops, festive drumming lessons and more.
Admission is free, although you’ll have to fork out money for ticketed activities.

1. Parent-Child Snakelet Pineapple Tarts Making Workshop (8 Feb, Sat)
Create snake-shaped pineapple tarts at their Parent-Child Snakelet Pineapple Tarts Workshop! Taught by pastry chefs from the learning centre Genius R Us, learn to mix buttery dough, shape it into enchanting snake designs, and stuff them with pineapple jam.
The workshop, conducted in English, is for children aged 4-12 with a parent.

2. The Legend of Yuan Xiao with a Rainbow of Happiness – Parent-Child Mandarin Storytelling and Tangyuan Making Workshop (9 Feb, Sun)
Join them in a storytelling session and travel back in time to uncover the enchanting tale of a mystical bird, the Jade Emperor, and a kind fairy who helped villagers save their town.
The adventure continues on in the present day with a hands-on session. Here, children and parents will create rainbow-coloured tangyuan with chefs from the culinary school The Little Things. Watch creativity come alive as you mix ingredients and make sweet tangyuan balls.
The workshop, held in English and Mandarin, is for children aged 4-10 with a parent.

3. Children Lion Dance Workshop (8 Feb, Sat)
Let your child get into the festive spirit with this lion dance workshop. Master basic dance movements taught by experienced tutors, while having fun wearing miniature lion dance costumes. You will get to bring home a DIY lion head kit worth S$7 to assemble.
The workshop, conducted in English and Mandarin, is for children aged 6-12 only.
