Previously, we looked at the most bought food/snack brands in Singapore, but there's more to the report than simply food.

For the uninitiated, a YouGov poll from the beginning of 2022 revealed data on our favourite FMCG brands and what the world loves in one nifty report.

The study concludes that consumers worldwide were especially likely to notice significant price increases for food (74%) and household products (47%). In tandem with inflation-fueled cost increases, supply chain slowdowns have further driven consumers to adapt their shopping behaviours. Amidst these rising prices and product shortages, some people have started buying less, and some have switched from brands they typically buy. For Singaporeans, buying in bulk, sussing out great deals and crossing the borders to our neighbour are ways we try to stretch our dollars.

Trump says he might demand Panama hand over canal
President-elect Donald Trump on Saturday accused Panama of charging excessive rates for use of the Panama Canal and said that if Panama did not manage the canal in an acceptable fashion, he would demand the U.S. ally hand it over. In an evening post on Truth Social, Trump also warned he would not let the canal fall into the "wrong hands," and he seemed to warn of potential Chinese influence on the passage, writing the canal should not be managed by China. It also underlines an expected shift in U.S. diplomacy under Trump, who has not historically shied away from threatening allies and using bellicose rhetoric when dealing with counterparts.
