Singapore has been playing host to a number of stellar celebrities recently and last Wednesday (12 April) was no different – friends of the House and VIPs across Asia key regions like Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan, South Korea, Thailand, Vietnam, Philippines, Indonesia were welcomed by Parisian fashion brand Kenzo to an evening of fashion and music. In the warm island-state of Singapore, larger-than-life installations and exhilarating night that embodied the bold and playful spirit of the “Kenzo Varsity Jungle” collection of Spring-Summer 2023 also hallmarked the first celebration in the region under the helm of Artistic director Nigo for Kenzo.

The celebration unfolded at the ArtScience Museum in Singapore, a contemporary art institute that serves beyond its purpose of physical spaces, to incite conversations between the artist and the public through its seamless blend of art. The oculus-shaped museum that takes architectural cues from a lotus flower came to full bloom as the sun sets and the collection’s iconic graphic motifs – the elephant and the tiger – came to life. The elephant, said to have the greatest memory of all animals, was Kenzo Takada’s favourite animal, while the tiger has been a core symbol of the brand since its early collections in 1975. The emblematic animal motifs showcased Nigo’s personal interpretations of strength and fearlessness whilst paying tribute to the late designer.
