Fashion brand Kenzo is introducing their Spring 2023 collection, titled ‘Varsity Jungle,’ which we think will take the street-style world by storm. Taking cues from American collegiate motifs blended with Kenzo's iconic symbols of elephants and tigers, Artistic Director Nigo stays true to the graphic codes of the house while paying tribute to the late Kenzo Takada.

The elephant, said to have the greatest memory of all animals, was Takada’s favourite animal. The late designer, known for having a good memory, loved to feature representations of elephants in his collections, both as a motif and a symbol. The tiger is another animal that inspired Takada; the very first tiger motif appeared in Kenzo collections in 1975. The elephant graphic that Nigo has designed is informed by 1950s sailor tattoo imagery, while the tiger design, also created by Nigo, was introduced as part of Kenzo's Fall/Winter 2022 collection.

The collection includes a range of ready-to-wear items, from t-shirts, sweatshirts, and of in playful colourways that reflects the youthful spirit of the collection.

To celebrate this launch, Kenzo has planned a range of activities, including a special guest appearance segment today, 12 April at ArtScience Museum, Singapore, featuring: a member of Hong Kong band Mirror, Keung To; Austin Lin from Taiwan; Off from Thailand; Tu Anh and Shyn Quynh Anh from Vietnam; Anaz Siantar, Nazla Alifa Senia and Ayla Dimitri from Indonesia; Laureen Uy from Philippines; Glenn Yong, Yoyo Cao and Aisyah Aziz from Singapore.
