DJ Koo: Time with Barbie was a precious gift

10 Feb - DJ Koo Jun-yup has been forced to address rumours surrounding his late wife Barbie Hsu's death while still in mourning.

On 8 February, the Korean entertainer responded to various reports, including claims that Barbie's ex-husband Wang Xiaofei had paid for the private flight to transport her ashes from Japan (where she passed away) to back home to Taiwan.

"I'm going through a time of indescribable sorrow and pain. I don't have the strength to say anything, and I don't want to," Koo wrote on social media. "But as we are still in a time of loss and mourning, some demonic people began to criticise our family and hurting my love. Some are walking around in the sad rain while others deliberately tarnish our family image, posting fake news about insurance and money that hurt us. Are there really such bad people in the world? I'm scared of the thought of this."

Koo pleaded for space to allow Barbie to rest in peace. He clarified that all assets Barbie accumulated throughout her life were intended for her family, and he will entrust their management to Barbie's mother. He added that the properties designated for the children cannot be accessed by others until they reach adulthood.

"For me, the time spent with Barbie was a precious and unique gift that I cannot exchange for anything in the world. I think the last thing I'll do is to protect the families I love the most.

For the last time, I bow my head and thank everyone for your love and condolence for our Barbie," he concluded.

Barbie Hsu passed away on 3 February at the age of 48. Poignantly, 8 February marked what would have been her third wedding anniversary with DJ Koo. The couple had registered their marriage in South Korea on 8 February 2022, and later in Taiwan on 28 March 2022.
