Vivian Hsu stresses the importance of being financially independent

11 Mar - If there is one thing that Vivian Hsu has taken away from her life journey, it is that it is very important to have financial independence.

In a recent interview with the fashion and beauty programme "Queen", the singer revealed that she took on the financial responsibility for her family as early as 14 years old, being one of the three children of a single mother.

"I have had a goal since I was young, which is to make money, support my mother and buy a house," she said.

Vivian revealed that her mother had to raise her and her siblings alone when she was a child, and that they often moved from one place to another. However, her mother remained an optimistic person.

"There was this one time, I heard the sound of a mouse on the roof. My mum laughed and said that it was a 'lucky mouse', and that I will be rich in the future," she said, adding that her mother's sense of humour made her not afraid of being poor.

It also made her want to be financially independent since early on.

"I believe that hard work is never a burden, and being able to earn income from it and achieve financial independence gives me the greatest freedom and confidence to pursue a wonderful life," she said.

When asked how she would like to live her life, Vivian responded, "My answer is very clear. [I want to] live a wonderful life!"
