The latest affluent appetizer to come across our feeds is one that we thought we'd seen before, but as it turns out, it's the crowd-pleasing party dish we never knew we needed.

What Is Million Dollar Dip?

We first saw this iteration of Million Dollar Dip on the social media feed of creator @PepperBellyPete. Now, this is not your standard Million Dollar Dip, also known as Neiman Marcus Dip (a store with several pricey recipes attributed to it). Unlike that version—which is a cold, mayo-based dip with Cheddar cheese and bacon—this one is a hot version that is, in essence, souped-up queso.

Made in our favorite appliance for those hot summer months, the slow cooker, it's a cheesy, beefy dip that starts with none other than a jar of Alfredo sauce. A *lot* of cheese gets added, along with browned sausage and ground beef, plus some seasonings. What this results in is the best version of the three-ingredient dip you know and love.

How to Make Million Dollar Queso Dip

To make Pepper Belly Pete's Million Dollar Ro-tel Dip, it's as easy as chucking all your ingredients in a slow cooker. Start with an entire jar of Roasted Garlic Alfredo sauce, then add in a pound of cooked sausage and two pounds of cooked ground sirloin. Then comes the cheese, all three-and-a-half pounds of it. Did we mention it feeds a crowd?

This dip contains not one, not two, but three kinds of cheese: 1/2 pound of pepper Jack, 1/2 pound of Cheddar, and 2 1/2 pounds of American cheese (the kind you find in a block by the deli). That's right—there's no Velveeta in sight.

Next comes two cans of Ro-tel, two cans of diced green chiles, a tablespoon of Worcestershire, "a bunch of" diced green onions, a tablespoon of hot sauce, and a few tablespoons of the multipurpose seasoning blend of your choice. That's it! Give it a stir and cook on low for about two to three hours, stirring occasionally. Serve with a sturdy corn chip for dipping—emphasis on sturdy.

Our Review of Million Dollar Queso Dip

This dip emerges from the slow cooker super thick, super rich, and incredibly delicious. According to our culinary producer, Nicole McLaughlin, it "tastes like Ro-tel dip on steroids."

Make no mistake—this dip is heavy duty. Nicole jokes that it probably gets its name from the cost it takes to make it (cheese and meat are not cheap!). However, this recipe yields a ton of dip, so invite over a small army or a million of your closest friends to share it ... or simply cut the recipe in half. Either way, you've got the blueprint for your next potluck hit.
