Jay Chou's surprise new album to his 10-million IG followers
10 Feb - In a thrilling announcement for fans worldwide, Mandopop superstar Jay Chou is back in the studio, crafting a new album as a special surprise to mark his milestone of 10 million Instagram followers.
The multi-hyphenate shared two intimate photos from the recording studio on 8 February, accompanied by a heartfelt message about his lifelong dedication to music.
"When I was a kid, while my classmates were out of school, I was practicing the piano. While they were on vacation, I was still at the piano. I was growing up when everyone was playing. I was writing songs while everyone was sleeping. I was writing words, was recording during the New Year's Day. I was recording, everyone," he wrote.
Eagle-eyed fans noticed the post was later edited, removing a line that read "I released an album while everyone was on summer vacation" - leading to speculation about a potential summer 2024 release.
This follows his 2 February announcement of a late-night songwriting session with frequent collaborator Vincent Fang, which came after fans wished for new music.
Jay's last album, "Greatest Works of Art," was released in 2022.
