Dickson Nasi Lemak — Popular takeaway kiosk to open dine-in outlet at Tanjong Pagar

What lengths would you go to for a pack of nasi lemak? For fans of Dickson Nasi Lemak, procuring a box entails queueing for it in the sweltering heat at their takeaway kiosk and only being able to tuck into it at home.

That soon won’t be the only case anymore, though! The popular joint is set to open a full-fledged dine-in outlet in Tanjong Pagar come Jun 2024.

For the uninitiated, Dickson Nasi Lemak currently operates out of a takeaway-only kiosk in Joo Chiat. Touted as the best-rated nasi lemak in Malaysia, their signature dish makes use of a recipe that originates from an acclaimed stall in Kuala Lumpur.

News of their first dine-in outlet was first publicised by several publications that caught sight of a dark green boarded-up facade at Icon Village bearing the joint’s name and their slated Jun 2024 opening.

With that, fans will finally be able to enjoy a fresh plate of their delicious fare in air-conditioned comfort. With the upcoming eatery situated in the heart of the CBD, westies need not brave the arduous journey to the east any longer either. No promises about the queues, though. But hey, at least it’s indoors!

Dickson Nasi Lemak themselves have not come forward with a formal announcement of any sort. However, they’ve confirmed with 8Days that the menu will consist of new items on top of their “usuals”.

While the menu has yet to be finalised, you can expect to see the crowd favourite Ayam Goreng Berempah (from S$6.90). This hearty dish consists of fragrant and fluffy coconut rice, egg, ikan bilis and a spiced fried chicken that’s crispy on the outside and tender on the inside.

There’s also a Basic (S$3.30/S$4.10) set which comes without the fried chicken leg, as well Rendang (from S$8.30), which features either chicken or beef slow-cooked for a whole 15 hours.

Look forward to trying their sambal, too. Made fresh every day, this aromatic 18-ingredient blend strikes the perfect balance between sweet and spicy.

While we excitedly await the opening of Dickson’s dine-in outlet, let’s make the most of their delicious takeaways in the meantime, shall we?
