New Western hawker in Yishun with huge British-style fish & chips at $7.90

When it comes to Western-style hawker food, my favourites are usually a solid chicken chop, or a hearty platter of fish and chips. A new kid on the block has recently opened up at Yishun Street 72, and their rendition of fish and chips has me salivating. They’re called Panda Bee, and their logo is as adorable as their name.

Located within walking distance from Yishun MRT, Panda Bee’s menu is focused on Western-style offerings. They offer various styles of pasta, which include vongole, aglio olio with different toppings and carbonara. There’s also pizza in 2 sizes, which comes with a waiting time of up to half an hour since each is freshly baked on order.

The British Fish & Chips (S$7.90) is a popular order here, and is served with a generous helping of French fries, coleslaw and tartar sauce. The portion of fish is huge, and the stall appears to use cod fish, which for the price point, is value for money. For small eaters, a single order is good for 2 pax.

Currently, due to a lack of manpower, Panda Bee isn’t able to offer the full menu. The staff will usually have what’s available for the day on a handwritten sign, and do expect a significant waiting time since every dish is lovingly prepared on order.

But with the dedication and care that goes into preparing each order, I’d think the food would be worth the wait if the reviews are anything to go by.
