How to ensure your candles last

To ensure your candles last, you must burn them correctly. This includes trimming the wick to about a quarter of an inch (0.635 centimetres) before each use to prevent excessive soot, uneven burning, and wick mushrooming.

You also have to ensure the surface burns entirely each time until it becomes liquid to avoid tunnelling; steer clear of drafts that can cause uneven burning and excessive wax consumption; and make sure your candle is never left unattended. Avoid burning candles for more than four hours at a time and allow them to cool before relighting.

When burning your candle, ensure it is on a flat, stable surface to prevent dripping and uneven melting. Additionally, if the candles are burning near each other, they must be at least three inches (7.62 centimetres) apart. Don't overcrowd candles in one area, as it can lead to overheating and uneven burning.

Keep your candles away from direct sunlight and heat when not in use to avoid warping and discolouration. Store unused candles in a cool, dry place to maintain their quality.
