The 4 best Spring/Summer 2023 shoe trends, according to these editors
Find the very best trend pieces that just don't stay on for one fashion cycle.
If there's one thing I learned from decluttering my wardrobe lately, it is to look beyond trends that don't just last one season, but all year long. This year, there's no difference, as I intend on stretching the dollar as much as I can, by shopping for timeless and classy purchases.
Looking at all the looks across social media and runways, I turn to my friend Daryll Alexius Yeo, a Fashion Stylist and Creative Consultant based in Singapore, for his insights as well.
Ifyou're looking for a statement piece to rock your birthday party, or want a pair of shoes to last you throughout your working hours, find the best trend pieces that stay beyond one fashion cycle.
Spring/Summer 2023 Trend 1: Mules
"Mules (heeled, but of course) is a footwear style that continues to be trendy, thanks to the Spring/Summer 2023 runways that gave us fresh perspectives for us to digest," shared Yeo. "Think everything from crystal embellishments to fur trimming and pretty bow details. Suddenly, mules feel new again."
Yeo's suggestion for petite ladies looking to try this trend is to take the effortless route when styling. "Wear with cropped jeans and a simple white tank and take full advantage of its leg-lengthening effect, and let the personality of mules do all the talking."

Spring/Summer 2023 Trend 2: Western-inspired boots
Looking to up your style game from the regular boots? Yeo recommends getting Western-inspired boots (or actual cowboy boots, for that matter). "Cowboy boots have been gaining traction, which have become a cult buy in recent years. If you're thinking of investing in a pair, you can rest assured that the trend is only growing – in the best way possible."
Yeo said we can add the right amount of vintage-cool to our otherwise contemporary outfit when we pair them with a flowy ensemble like a billowy maxi dress for boho-chic contrast.

Spring/Summer 2023 Trend 3: Satin sandals/Heels
When we think about satin, the first thing that comes to mind is its decadent touch. Satin's soft and iridescent material plays on femininity and luxury, and we can't get enough of it. Fashion houses Saint Laurent and Acne have been introducing this material on runways, and locally in our market, I personally got a pair of satin platforms from Charles & Keith. You can't go wrong with straight-leg jeans in this style.

Spring/Summer 2023 Trend 4: Ballet flats
"So Parisien!" my partner exclaimed when I stepped out of the house one day in my pair of A.P.C. ballet shoes. On top of the dainty ballet flats, some brands like Tod's and MM6 Maison Margiela injected chunky soles to give it a tough, masculine feel.
Wear them with stockings, dresses or pants – they're that versatile.
