Yoko Kamio denies new "Boys Over Flowers" remake
25 Oct - Yoko Kamio has denied rumours of a remake of the hit drama adaptation of her shojo comics, "Boys Over Flowers".
As reported on Epoch Times, the manga artist recently posted her response on Instagram, saying that while she usually would not react to rumours, she decided to speak up about it after receiving so many comments from fans.
"There is no "Hana Yori Dango" remake. Why there is such a rumour is still a mystery," she said.
The famous manga, which was first released in 1992, has been adapted across Asia, including Taiwan, China, and South Korea.
Its Japanese TV series adaptation, "Hana Yori Dango", stars Mao Inoue and Arashi's Jun Matsumoto, while the South Korean version helped popularised actors like Lee Min-ho and Goo Hye-sun.
However, the most famous adaptation was the 2001 "Meteor Garden", starring Barbie Hsu, Jerry Yan, and Vic Chou. However, its original Taiwanese producer Angie Chai recently shared that she has plans to have a remake of this particular adaptation.
