Xiu Jie-kai to begin military service in June
15 May - Taiwanese actor Xiu Jie-kai is set to leave wife Alyssa Chia and daughter Bubu to enlist in the Taiwan national service for 22 months next month.
According to Iduobo, on 10 May, Alyssa posted a photo of her and daughter Bubu with Xiu, who has already shaved his head in preparation for his upcoming service.
She wrote, "He obediently did the right thing. We are with you! I know you will miss us, but soon you will be with us again."
Xiu is set to begin his national service on 2 June. According to Epoch Times, due to his status as a husband and a father, Xiu will be joining the alternative service instead, which is a public safety or community service related work under the MOI, usually in the police, fire department, public clinics, local government offices, or as teachers in rural areas.
The actor registered his marriage to Alyssa back in August 2015 a few days before the birth of their daughter. He also promised to hold a proper wedding after his military service.
