Wu Jinyan wants to be free from Wei Yingluo
19 Aug – Chinese actress Wu Jinyan would rather not have people continuously linking her to her past character Wei Yingluo, seeing that it has been years since she starred in the hit period drama, "Story of Yanxi Palace".
As reported on Sohu, the actress whose new drama, "Knock on Happiness Door" has been airing since 12 August, stated that while she was grateful that the character helped her career in showbiz, it was not the only character she played in the past few years.
"Every character has their own feelings. Whether they're a success or a failure, liked or disliked, I was invested in them. But at the same time, they should not confine me, because there will be a lot more characters that I am going to play," she said.
Wu added that she would like to "escape" from Wei Yingluo, and to see where Wu Jinyan the actress could go without the label.
"My new series is airing. The role of the civilian police that I portray is ordinary and brave and has warmed up every cold moment of my life. I hope all of you will like it," she added.
