Wendy’s Is Releasing a First-Of-Its-Kind Frosty

We can't wait to try it.

Let’s make sure we’re all on the same page: the Frosty is one of the most perfect things on the Wendy’s menu. It should be, Dave Thomas worked hard to create a unique, first-of-its-kind product that combined the best parts of a milkshake with the best parts of soft serve ice cream.

Since its placement on the original Wendy’s menu, the Frosty has remained a classic with its iconic chocolate and vanilla flavors—plus, an ice cream machine that’s basically always functional.

Now, after its continued success with releasing new, seasonal Frosty flavors—like the autumn Pumpkin Spice, winter Peppermint, and summer Strawberry—Wendy’s is finally introducing a spring offering. Starting March 19, the first day of spring, Wendy’s will sell an all-new Orange Dreamsicle Frosty.

The new Frosty is reminiscent of that Good Humor bar you used to get from the ice cream truck. It combines the sweet, creamy orange flavor with the classic Vanilla Frosty to create a sweet, citrusy dessert for the first time ever at the fast food empire.

The Orange Dreamsicle Frosty will join the Chocolate Frosty on nationwide menus for a limited time. Unfortunately, for you Vanilla Frosty lovers, that does mean the Vanilla Frosty will be getting replaced yet again. We know you might be thinking, “Why can’t they take the Chocolate Frosty off the menu every once in a while?”

Well, contrary to what you might think, the Chocolate Frosty actually came first. The Vanilla Frosty didn’t arrive until 2006. So, what better way to honor Dave Thomas’ legacy than keeping his favorite flavor on the menu?

Plus, and probably the real answer, the Vanilla Frosty is used to make the seasonal offerings, so it makes more sense to add the flavor to the vanilla machine rather than empty the chocolate machine and create a new recipe.

You still have a few days to get your Vanilla Frosty fix before it’s gone again. Come on, though, even Vanilla Frosty fans can admit an orange cream bar-flavored Frosty sounds like the best treat for spring. We're sure we'll see you all in the drive-thru line.
