Watch This Heartwarming 'Back to the Future' Reunion if You Were a Teenager in the '80s

If you love '80s movies, you probably have Back to the Future somewhere near the top of your favorites list. Well, grab your tissues because the stars behind this classic film reunited, and the internet (rightfully) freaked out.

Back to the Future fans were in a state of absolute bliss this weekend when stars Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd, who played Marty McFly and Dr. Emmett Brown, shared an emotional reunion at New York Comic Con.

The audience greeted Fox and Lloyd with a standing ovation and thunderous applause as the two walked across the stage. In a moment that has since gone viral, Fox reached out to Lloyd, and the two shared a heartwarming embrace.

"If you were a teenager in 1985, then Michael J. Fox was your guy," wrote one Twitter user. "Marty McFly in Back to the Future is the coolest teenager in cinema history. Watching him hug Christopher Lloyd like this is so beautiful."

Another video that captured their reunion hug garnered over 9 million views and 14k likes. The person who posted the video took it as an opportunity to bring attention to Parkinson's disease and asked people to donate to the Michael J. Fox Foundation, which funds research into finding a cure. Fox was diagnosed with Parkinson's in the 1990s and quickly used his platform to bring awareness to the disease. He told the Comic Con audience that Lloyd has been a strong source of support over the years, according to Uproxx.

"Parkinson's is the gift that keeps on taking—but it's a gift, and I wouldn't change it for anything," Fox said. "People like Chris have been there a lot for me, and so many of you have. It's not about what I have, it's about what I've been given—the voice to get this done, and help people out."

Movie buffs may know that Fox wasn't originally cast as Marty McFly but joined the cast of Back to the Future after production was already underway. Director Robert Zemeckis came to realize that the first actor to play McFly—Eric Stoltz—wasn't right for the role and brought Fox on instead

"I didn't know Michael other than hearing about him," Lloyd said during the Comic Con panel. "And I felt that I had barely made it through the six weeks, and now I was going to have to do it again? There was immediate chemistry, as they say."

The duo went on to star in all three Back to the Future movies together—a trilogy that had us all saying, "Great Scott!”
