TVB halts "PTU 2019" production

1 Jul – Although filming was originally scheduled to start in early June, it was recently revealed that TVB has halted the production of its new project, "PTU 2019".

As reported on Mingpao, producer Jacky Lee, who spoke to the media about the halt, confirmed that they have suspended filming until further notice.

When asked the reason for the decision, Lee did not give any positive response and only said that a different TV movie will be filmed instead.

"The actors have already been notified, and we can work on other arrangements. Right now, we are waiting for TVB's decision," he said.

Although the producer made no mention about the reason behind the suspension, many speculated that it has something to do with the rising tension between the police force and the anti-extradition protesters in recent weeks.

"PTU 2019", starring Mat Yeung, Sisley Choi, and Max Cheung, was originally announced in April this year as a collaboration between TVB and the Hong Kong Police Force to celebrate the 175th anniversary of the latter's establishment.
