TVB director Ivan Lai passes away at 61

10 Mar - It was reported that former TVB director Ivan Lai has recently passed away.

According to Oriental Daily, the director, known for his works such as "Ghetto Justice", "Wars of In-Laws" and "On the First Beat", reportedly lost his life to pancreatic cancer.

Friends in the industry, including actor Anthony Wong, expressed their sadness over the loss.

"You know how much foul language and temper flaring there are in this business? But he was not that kind of person," said Anthony.

The actor said that he probably last saw Ivan a year ago, when the director stated that he wanted to start his own company and make television series.

Others, including Myolie Wu, Bosco Wong, and Michael Tse, expressed sadness over the loss, and sent their condolences to the family.

In related news, Ivan's son, Lai Chi Ling, stated that a low-key memorial service will be held on 22 March. Ivan's body will be cremated at Cape Collinson.

He was 61.
