Wen Ji is owned by a lady boss, Madam Huang. She was the head chef at Cheng Mun Chee Kee Pig Organ Soup on Foch Road and held that position for 25 years. If you’ve eaten there before, there’s a chance you’ve tried something she cooked.

Her mastery of the craft didn’t just begin at Cheng Mun Chee Kee Pig Organ Soup. She was the disciple of the late Chow Mun Chee himself. Mr Chow created the original recipes used by both her previous workplace and Authentic Mun Chee Kee.

With that kind of background, it’s no surprise that one of the main dishes at Wen Ji is the Pig Organ’s Soup (Regular for S$4.80, Large for S$6.80). The cloudy soup has ingredients like pork liver, organs, meatballs and tofu.

If you like some carbs with that soup, maybe try the Pig’s Organ Mee Sua/Kway Teow (S$5.30) or Pig’s Kidney Mee Sua/Kway Teow (S$6.30)

For an extremely wallet-friendly option, you can opt for a bowl of Braised Meat Rice (S$2). It’s also not the only dish using braised meat on the menu. For S$6.80, you can get yourself a bowl of Vinegar Pig’s Trotters.

For smaller sides, Wen Ji offers you a plate of Steamed Minced Meat With Chestnut (S$2.50) and a version with Salted Fish (S$3)

With their affordable menu at the hands of an experienced chef, Wen Ji Jalan Besar Pig’s Organ Soup is worth checking out.
