Taiwan and China to produce Teresa Teng TV series

18 Nov - A biographical TV series chronicling the life and times of iconic singer Teresa Teng is currently in the works, according to ECNS.

The news was reportedly revealed by Teng Chang-fu, Teresa's elder brother who currently takes care of her estate.

According to Teng, the project is a collaboration between Taiwan and mainland investors, including Hunan Satellite Television.

The production is set to begin next year, although more details about the plot and the cast are yet to be revealed.

Ironically, Teresa, who was born and raised in Taiwan, has never been to mainland China and her songs were never broadcast on mainland radios. She was banned by the country for supposedly being a bad influence and a symbol of bourgeois decadence.

However, music lovers were able to listen to her songs throughout China in the late 1970s and early '80s through the introduction of cassette tapes.
