Swatow Bai Le Braised Duck — Geylang stall closed 15 Jan, now only at Lau Pa Sat

After more than 9 years at 37 Geylang, Swatow Bai Le Braised Duck decided to close up shop at that location. Operations officially ceased on 15 Jan 2024.

Swatow Bai Le Braised Duck - Geylang

They announced the closure with a post on 9 Jan on their Facebook page. The reason for closing up at Geylang was an increase in rent and manpower costs.  Thankfully, they’re not gone for good. You can still find them at Lau Pa Sat on Raffles Quay.

With the closure and business now being exclusively at Lau Pa Sat, they have plans to implement a “loyalty duck card” for returning customers. They will be able to claim “exciting dishes” as rewards. Stay tuned to their social media pages for more updates

Bai Le Braised Duck prides itself on selling authentic Teochew braised duck and kway chap. Their braising formula includes a secret blend of herbs and spices.

The recipe was handed down from the owner’s late mother, who founded the Swatow Restaurant on Shenton Way in the 1970s.

The “must try” item on their menu is the Classic Braised Duck Rice (S$5). You are recommended to take some of their garlic chilli sauce. If you rather have pork, you can get their Bai Le Braised Pork Belly Rice (S$5.50)

Another popular pick is their Kway Chap Set (S$5.50). The platter is loaded with duck, pork and intestines, making it value for money.

Most of their reviews and check-ins come from their Geylang stall. Hopefully, despite the move to Lau Pa Sat, regulars will continue to support Swatow Bai Le Braised Duck. If the location is not ideal, customers can always order from their website or from Deliveroo.
