Susan Lankester channels her late mother in "Rain Town"

21 Dec - Susan Lankester recently revealed that she decided to accept the role of Aileen in the upcoming movie, "Rain Town" as a way to honour her own late mother.

The actress, who stars in the Tunku Mona Riza's movie as a mother of three children, stated that she decided to accept the offer to play the role as she has never played a mother before.

"Aileen is my way of honouring my mother who passed away five years ago. I even emulate a lot of her personality in the more challenging scenes and bring it into Aileen," she said.

As to working in her first Cantonese movie, Susan said that it was a great experience for her, although it was a little stressful trying to follow the script so not to mispronounce her words seeing that she isn't fluent in the dialect.

"I am happy that the movie is made in Cantonese. Rain Town is helping to revive the dialect," she added.

Aside from Susan, "Rain Town" stars Chew Kin Wah, Wilson Lee, Fabian Loo, and Pauline Tan.

The film will be released in Malaysian cinemas on 8 Feb 2024 in conjunction with Chinese New Year.
