Surprise Best Supporting Actress win for Azira Shafinaz at Asia Pacific Film Festival
3 Dec - Fabian Loo and Azira Shafinaz became the two Malaysian actors who won at the 61st Asia Pacific Film Festival (APFF).
Azira, who won Best Supporting Actress for her performance in "Indera", admitted that she didn't expect to win as she initially didn't know she was nominated.
"This is a big surprise to me... Thank you to Asia Pacific Film Festival for this huge recognition. I am so honoured and humbled to receive this," she expressed.
Meanwhile, Fabian, who won Best Supporting Actor category for "Rain Town", wasn't able to attend the event. His trophy was received by director Tunku Mona on his b behalf.
Directed by Woo Ming Jin, "Indera", which also stars Shaheizy Sam, is set against the backdrop of the violent Memali Incident in 1985. This psychological thriller is about a visiting handyman and his young daughter who experience mysterious visions in a remote village amid the fatal police raid against fundamentalists.
