Siti Khadijah Halim raises awareness about animal welfare

12 Jul - After getting bashed on Facebook for sharing photos with dogs, Siti Khadijah Halim recently took to social media to reveal the intention behind the pictures.

The actress, who collaborated with digital creator My Forever Doggo, revealed on Instagram that while she is afraid of dogs, a feeling nurtured after being chased by wild dogs when she was 12, she would never hurt one.

"Guys, I know that some people are afraid of cats, dogs, frogs and so on. I understand that very well. But [even] if you don't like them, please, I beg you, don't hurt them," she posted.

"I've just recently learnt that animals have feelings and they are just like us. They have their quirks, trauma, cute traits, and just basically their own unique characters. And I find that interesting... Yes some might look down on them because these animals are helpless and you guess, can't talk. However, that doesn't give you the power to hurt them! I really hate seeing people abusing animals. If an animal is not fond of you, just let them be," she posted.

The post came following a recent incident involving a man who allegedly abused his own dog, a Husky breed, in a condominium in Kajang, Selangor.

The said Husky had since been rescued.
