Sheryl Lee Ralph Talks ‘Smashing Red Carpets’ in Safiyaa Bow Dress at Golden Globes 2024

Sheryl Lee Ralph made a glamorous arrival at the Golden Globe Awards 2024 in Los Angeles on Sunday, donning a yellow-and-black Safiyaa gown. Ralph’s bespoke design featured puff sleeves and a dramatic bow back detail that trailed the red carpet.

Ralph worked with her stylist and daughter Ivy Coco Maurice on her look. “We have been working together and smashing the red carpets for the past two years,” the actress told WWD.

For accessories, the star added a shining Daniel Williams Diamonds necklace and a Fernando Jorge ring, telling WWD, “My daughter always says to me, ‘Mom, if you’re going to be smashing the red carpets, your diamonds must be real!’

Ralph attended the awards in support of her series “Abbott Elementary,” which earned a Best Television Series — Musical or Comedy nomination. The Golden Globe ultimately went to the Hulu series “The Bear.”

Ralph earned her first-ever Golden Globe nomination in 2023 for Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Musical-Comedy or Drama Television Series for her role as Barbara Howard in the ABC series.

The 81st annual Golden Globe Awards, held at The Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles, celebrated the biggest achievements across film and television in 2023. It was produced by Dick Clark Productions, which is owned by WWD parent Penske Media Corp. Ahead of the ceremony, WWD hosted its first real-time red carpet digital show, cohosted by Jeannie Mai, highlighting the looks from the red carpet arrivals. On Monday, WWD revealed the winners of its Style Awards during the red carpet recap on wwd.com/golden-globes at 10 a.m. ET.

In a judicial review application filed on April 1, Najib said an "addendum order" issued by the former king had accompanied a pardons board's decision in February to halve his 12-year jail sentence for graft in the multibillion-dollar 1MDB scandal. Najib had sought for the court to compel the government to reply to or confirm the existence of the royal order, which he said would entitle him to serve the remainder of his term under house arrest, and to execute the order if it existed.
