Senario members have no idea about Yassin's whereabouts

21 Jan - Members of the comedy group Senario would rather keep mum instead of speculating about the whereabouts of their sixth member, Yassin Yahya, who was missing in action at the press conference announcing them as the Jakel ambassadors.

The five members, who attended the event clad in the traditional baju Melayu, declined to speculate about Yassin's lack of appearance, despite many speculating that he is the comedian that was reported in the news recently of being detained in Saudi Arabia for drug-related charges.

"Everybody can make their own speculations. We don't have any confirmation about anything, so I would rather not speak about it," said Saiful Apek. "I have known Yassin for a long time. He might not be that smart but he isn't a fool either. Let's just pray for the best."

Saiful added that people should rather be responsible with their words when it comes to such a speculation.

As for Wahid, the actor said that he would not make such accusation against Yassin since he himself has no knowledge about him.

"I live in Ipoh while the others in KL. When they asked me to come to KL, I did so for work. That's how we do it. We don't know anything about Yassin. Who knows? Maybe he is taking a break somewhere," he added.

It was previously reported an unnamed Malaysian comedian had been sentenced to six months in jail after being arrested in Jeddah for possessing marijuana. The sentence was handed down during the accused's trial last November.

Sources reportedly said that the comedian will likely be released earlier than the stipulated period if he behaves well.
