Sammi Cheng avoided the original stage play of her movie

21 Sep – Sammi Cheng recently admitted that she did not regret her decision to not watch the play, "Murder in San José" prior to filming the movie version of the said show, "Fatal Visit".

As reported on Singtao Daily, the actress who plays one of the leads in the said movie alongside Charlene Choi, stated that the choice of not seeing the actual play was the right one as she would have been nervous and pressured to emulate the original performance.

"Alice Lau plays my character in the stage play, and she is very good. I would have been more stressed out if I saw it before I did the movie. I would have also unintentionally imitated her performance and put myself in a box if I saw it first. The more isolated I am from the original the better," she said.

It was indeed a good choice, as she was highly praised for her performance in the film. However, Sammi said that she is not expecting any awards to come with it.

"Winning an award is no longer a priority for me. I would be happy to win one, of course, but I am not expecting it," she added.
