PSA: Demi Moore is coming for Bella Hadid’s Cannes fashion queen crown
If you're a regular reader of the Cosmo fashion section (hi!) you'll no doubt know we've spent the past week gushing about all the amazing Cannes Film Festival red carpet looks from the likes of Anya Taylor-Joy, Selena Gomez, Emma Stone, Eva Longoria. We of course can't talk about the French Riviera without mention of Bella Hadid though, who is without question the reigning queen of Cannes.
However, the model's title could be under serious threat as Demi Moore has continued to steal the style spotlight in some seriously stand-out looks. The actress has been a mainstay at the 2024 event, promoting her new film The Substance to critical acclaim. But if you ask us, it's her fashion performance we need to talk about.
Demi's Cannes wardrobe has consisted of drool-worthy outfits and drool-worthy outfits only. So, let's take a look at each stunning 'fit, shall we?
Demi kicked things off in an Armani Privé red sequin strapless column gown with beaded floral motifs providing further embellished detailing. She coordinated her jewellery to the dress, wearing Chopard cocktail rings featuring red gemstones as well as delicate floral drop earrings.
Opting for another strapless sequin gown, Demi's second red carpet look consisted of a turquoise Balenciaga dress with a small train. She again matched her jewels to her dress, this time with a statement turquoise and diamond collar necklace, again from Chopard.
Proving she can do daytime chic just as well with her tried and tested fashion formula of strapless dresses, Demi wore a black Del Core maxi dress that featured a corsage belt and most importantly, pockets. Not as simple as it first appears, the design also included a sheer corset back with Demi amping up the style factor with her By Far ballet flats – AKA spring summer's trendiest shoe. Demi also added the most adorable accessory, her teeny tiny chihuahua, Pilaf.
Another night, another strapless gown. For the premiere of The Substance, Demi wowed in a nude satin Schiaparelli Haute Couture creation with a fishtail silhouette and 3D sculptural winged bow bodice. A Chopard diamond choker and drop earrings adding a delicate sparkle to the gorgeous look.
When in the South of France, it would be a crime not to wear a ladylike ensemble in a strictly monochrome colour palette. Just ask Selena Gomez. Working with her stylist Brad Goreski, she stepped out at a press event wearing an Elie Saab cream tweed polka dot A-line dress paired with Aquazzura white and black pumps. Shout out again to Pilaf who (rightly so) stole the show.
Marking a return to strapless dresses, Demi wore this sunshine yellow Oscar de la Renta gown that featured a thigh-high leg slit. Her sequin floral drop earrings from – you guessed it – Chopard, the official sponsor of the Cannes Film Festival, added a fun and quirky element to her attire as well as coordinating perfectly with the two oversized pink flowers that adorned her hip.
Brief outfit detour to recognise two queens! Three, if we're counting Pilaf.
Which brings us up to date. Last night [Thursday 23 May] Demi Moore hosted the annual AmfAR Gala, arriving on the red carpet in a custom Loewe white gown featuring a draped cowl neck and back with embellished tubular straps. Her Chopard diamond necklace with giant diamond pendant the icing on the cake of this ethereal, angelic outfit.

Of course, as host, Demi had an outfit change during the event. She took to the stage at the gala in a silver sequin halterneck gown that featured a plunging neckline and crystal-embellished nude panels creating the effect of cut-outs running down the front of the dress.
Look after look! We told you, Demi can't put a fashion foot wrong. Time to arrange a coronation?
