"The Prosecutor" makes RM 2 million in Malaysia after three days

26 Dec - Donnie Yen is elated to find out that his directorial effort, "The Prosecutor" has made RM 2 million at the Malaysian box office in just three days.

On 24 December, the action star shared a post by GSC Cinemas announcing the good news, which read, "Justice served with a side of box office domination! #DonnieYen's #TheProsecutor has smashed its way to RM2 MILLION at the box office in just 3 days!"

Expressing his excitement to the reception the movie has been having in Malaysia, Donnie expressed, "Thank you to everyone who went to the theatre [to watch it]."

The film, which has Donnie playing the titular role, tells the story of a former cop turned prosecutor who decides to take it into his own hands to restore justice after a young man is wrongly charged with drug trafficking after being deceived.

The film is said to be based on a real case.

"The Prosecutor" also has Donnie's real-life father, Klyster Yen making a cameo as the character's father.
