Portraits of Dogs: London exhibition explores human devotion to four-legged friends

A new art exhibition dedicated to dogs has opened at the Wallace Collection in London.

Portraits of Dogs: From Gainsborough to Hockney explores the intimate ways in which we have represented our faithful friends throughout history.

Featuring works from Edwin Landseer, Leonardo Da Vinci, and even Queen Victoria and Prince Albert, the show concludes with an entire room dedicated to David Hockney’s touching paintings of his two beloved dachshunds Stanley and Boodgie.

The exhibition runs from 29 March to 15 October 2023.
