Owen Cheung and Katy Kung are the new TV King and Queen

20 Jan - Despite Rosina Lam and Vincent Wong leading the votes for Best Actress and Actor earlier, it turns out the coveted TVB Anniversary Awards accolades did not end up with them.

Katy Kung, who was nominated for her performance in "Big Biz Duel", bested contenders that include Tavia Yeung and Rosina to become Best Actress for the first time ever.

"I really feel like I'm dreaming. I didn't expect to be able to go on stage and receive the Best Actress award. (This award) is really important. I am grateful for the company's 16 years of cultivation, and I am also grateful for the role of Fong Fong," said Katy with teary eyes as she accepted the award.

Admitting that she has similarities with her character Fong Fong, the actress stated that she joined TVB at the age of 19 and met many good people who helped her along the way.

"I am grateful to every colleague I have worked with. Thank you for your tolerance and giving me the opportunity," she added.

Owen Cheung, who won both TV King as well as Malaysia's Favourite TVB Actor, said, "I told myself that I would not cry no matter what, but I really couldn't help it. I am very happy and thank everyone who gave me a chance."

Meanwhile, Owen's drama, "No Room for Crime" became the big winner of the night, winning five accolades including Best Drama.
