Nabil Ahmad's wife addresses no-hijab photo controversy

20 Jan - Nabil Ahmad's wife Nazirah Ayub has finally decided to address previous controversy surrounding a photo of her not wearing the hijab on a holiday.

Nazirah, known as Zira to many, said that the photo that was shared in November was not a new photo of her, but an old one that her comedian husband mistakenly posted on social media.

"Yes, I am the one who manage our Instagram account, but while we were in London, he accidentally uploaded an old photo of us at the same destination while trying to reminisce about the previous holiday," she said.

Zira said that she immediately deleted the photo after finding out that Nabil had uploaded in on Instagram Story, but didn't expect it to cause a huge controversy back home.

Asked why they have been silent about the controversy prior, she said that she didn't want it to be bigger than it is.

Meanwhile, Nabil, who admitted to be the one making the mistake, said that it was the case of him being "overly trying to be helpful" despite not being good at social media.

"I am not angry at netizens for the backlash because they didn't know what actually happened. And we were on a holiday at the time, so I didn't want any comments to dampen our mood," he added.
