We know by now how beneficial renting our wardrobes is – by sharing our clothes, we consume much less, avoid wasting money on one-wear trend pieces and shop in a more environmentally friendly way – and, so does Helen Mirren.

The actress has listed two beautiful evening dresses on the rental app By Rotation for a good cause; all the proceeds go to Women For Women International, a non-profit organisation that supports female survivors of war, a charity that Mirren has been an ambassador for since 2016.

Helen listed a shimmering cherry red Needle & Thread dress with a full tulle skirt, which she first wore to the London premiere of The Duke last February. Her second listing is a personal favourite from her archive; a vintage gold Niteline Della Roufogali dress that she’s worn to numerous events.

Eshita Kabra-Davies, the founder of By Rotation (which just launched in New York), shared her excitement over Helen’s listings on the app. "It’s such an honour to have Dame Helen Mirren list on By Rotation," she said. "As an advocate for sustainable fashion, we are thrilled to have her join the rental revolution by lending two beautiful red-carpet dresses on the app."

She adds: "By sharing her wardrobe, Dame Helen is not only making luxury fashion accessible to all, but raising money for Women for Women, an organisation I have been passionate about supporting for several years."

You can rent Mirren's dresses on the By Rotation app now for a three-day minimum period; rent her Needle & Thread red gown at £24 per day and her vintage Niteline Della Roufogali dress at £8 per day.
