Movies at the cinema in July 2019
For most younger moviegoers, July means the start of the second and last semester of the school, but on the movie calender, it is full steam ahead. The first blockbuster of the month to be released is Marvel’s Spider-Man: Far From Home, a movie that has been said to be the finale to the MCU’s Infinity Saga, as well as the much-anticipated live action remake of 1994’s The Lion King, starring Beyonce and Donald Glover.
You can expect lots of Golden Village-exclusive Japanese anime coming this month as well, such as Crayon Shinchan: Dangerous Honeymoon – The Lost Daddy, Love Live! Sunshine!! Aqours 5th LoveLive! -Next SPARKLING!! and Doraemon: Nobita’s Chronicle Of The Moon Exploration!

Peter Parker returns in Spider-Man: Far From Home, the next chapter in the Spider-Man: Homecoming series. It follows right after the dramatic events of Avengers: Endgame where Peter Parker tries to move on from the aftermath of the destruction. The school organises a two-week summer field trip to Europe and our friendly neighbourhood superhero decides to join his best friends Ned, MJ, and the gang on a vacation. However, Peter’s plan to leave super heroics behind for a few weeks are quickly scrapped when he begrudgingly agrees to help Nick Fury uncover the mystery of several elemental creature attacks, creating havoc across the continent.

The Extractors is the third entry in the Escape Plan franchise led by Sylvester Stallone. In this action-packed instalment, he stars as security expert Ray Breslin, who previously used his wits to fight his way out of an inescapable prison. This time, he has been hired to rescue a kidnapped daughter of a Hong Kong tech mogul from a formidable Latvian prison. He has his team including Trent DeRosa (Dave Bautista) and Hush (Curtis ’50 Cent’ Jackson) must pull off a deadly rescue mission to save the hostages before time runs out.

One Day: Justice Delivered is the action-thriller that follows a crime police officer (Esha Gupta) who is tasked to investigate the disappearance of various high-profile persons in the state capital. Full of twists and turns, the suspenseful drama focuses on the strategies used by law enforcement officers. Directed by Ashok Nanda, the film also features Zarina Wahab, Zakir Hussain, Rajesh Sharma, Deepshikha and Murali Sharma.

The concert movie focuses on the popular girl group Aqours, from the hit anime series Love Live! Sunshine!! On their 5th concert held in Sitama, Japan earlier this June.
Featuring performances from all 9 members of the group and select songs from their entire discography, the 210-minute film encourages fans to cheer and sing along to the music.

First Reformed tells the story of Reverend Ernst Toller, a pastor (Hawke) of a small congregation in upstate New York who is struggling through a crisis of faith. His life starts to spiral out of control after a soul-shaking tragedy with an unstable environmental activist and his pregnant wife.
Elements of the plot were inspired by the novel ‘The Diary of a Country Priest’ by French writer Georges Bernanos. The drama first screened at the 74th Venice International Film Festival in 2017 to great reviews, mainly praising Hawke’s performance and its screenplay by Paul Schrader, who earned his first Academy Award nomination that year.

The space adventure film, High Life, sees Monte (Robert Pattinson) and his daughter Willow, living together aboard a spacecraft, in complete isolation. Monte was one of the several death-row inmates shot into the cosmos as human guinea pigs. He fathered Willow against his will when his sperm was used to inseminate the young woman who gave birth to her. As one of the survivors of a dangerous mission to the other reaches of the solar system, both father and daughter have to rely on each other to survive as they approach their destination – the black hole in which time and space cease to exist.

Hayley must not only escape with her father who is gravely injured, but she also has to for her life against the hungry alligators lurking around.

Little did she know that this evil doll rejected its programming, becoming self-aware and murderous, threatening the lives of people he comes in contact with.

Amid their happiness, Dilan often gets into fights and brawls whenever he is out on his motorcycle, which caused him to be expelled from school. Worried for him and his future, Milea makes Dilan choose either to leave the motorcycle gang or end their relationship. In the midst of all these problems, a distant relative of Milea, Yugo comes back from Belgium and falls in love with Milea, but she has only eyes for Dilan.

Crayon Shinchan: Dangerous Honeymoon – The Lost Daddy is the latest instalment of the popular comedy manga and anime series, Crayon Shinchan, which sees the couple on their first honeymoon vacation.
Hiroshi and Misae have never been to a honeymoon trip to a foreign country, so one day, they decide to take the whole family to Australia after Misae manages to find a cheap family-friendly holiday package. There, Hiroshi gets kidnapped, leaving Shinnosuke, Misae and others on a dangerous journey. It turns out that Hiroshi is the key to a secret treasure. The remaining members of the Nohara Family must rescue Hiroshi, while a mysterious masked man and treasure hunters from all over the world are after him. The struggle is among three different groups in this action-filled treasure hunting adventure.

Disney’s live-action adaptation of the 1994 animation The Lion King is a photorealistic computer-animated remake of the story of Simba (Donald Glover). The crown prince of the Pride Lands hopes to follow his father’s footsteps to be a mighty king. Simba idolises his father, King Mufasa (James Earl Jones), and takes to heart his own royal destiny. But Mufasa’s brother, Scar (Chiwetel Ejiofor), plots to betray Mufasa and take over the Pride Lands, forcing Simba into exile. With help from a curious pair of newfound friends – Timon (Billy Eichner) and Pumbaa (Seth Rogen) – Simba will have to figure out how to grow up and take back what is rightfully his.
Hans Zimmer scores the musical movie, with Elton John reworking the musical compositions. Beyonce, who voices Nala in the movie, will be singing ‘Can You Feel the Love Tonight’ with Glover and creating a new song for the end credits of the film.

Doraemon: Nobita’s Chronicle Of The Moon Exploration is the 39th instalment of the Doraemon feature films. At first, Nobita’s friends at school laugh at him when he tells them that he has seen the moon turn yellow while casting a white shadow. Doraemon gives him the ‘History Explorers Club Badge” and together, they discover that there is life on the moon – a mysterious girl living on the far side. Nobita, Doraemon and their friends then go on a moon exploration journey but Diabolo and his subordinate Goddard stand in their way.
