Mimi Kung doesn't regret leaving showbiz in early millennium
1 Nov – Mimi Kung recently admitted that she shares several similarities with her character in the TVB series, "Finding Her Voice" – among them is the fact that they both gave up their dream for the sake of their husband.
As reported on Mingpao, the actress revealed that although her character Jing Yi is a strong woman, she decided to give up her job in order to accompany her husband, much like what Mimi herself did when she tied the knot with Taiwanese actor Lin Wei in 1999.
"I am a person who takes my responsibilities seriously. When I am filming, I am focused on my job. When I became a mother, I realised that I have a heavy responsibility - that I have to always be around for my children throughout their childhood," she said.
Although she sacrificed her golden years for the sake of her family, Mimi said that she never regretted her decision despite the subsequent divorce from Lin.
"My children have given me a lot of happy moments in my life. I think it made my life experience richer and I hope to be able to continue to be with them through different stages of life," she said.
Speaking about her divorce with Lin, Mimi said that the long distance played a big role in it.
"All of his friends and social circle are in Taiwan and I was a part of it as well. But I had to return to Hong Kong to take care of my father, and then the children came with me and started studying here. We ended up settling in Hong Kong, and he had to travel to and fro Taiwan. My attention was focused on the children and then we were busy with work, so we had fewer and fewer communication," she said.
