2 Jun – Hong Kong actress Michelle Yim is set to produce the movie version of the highly popular stage play, "I Have a Date with Spring".

According to HK Channel, the actress, who herself starred in the stage play back in 1995, appeared at the press conference announcing the new project in Macau to talk about the film.

Michelle stated that although the play itself has already been adapted into all three platforms, including the 1995 ATV version, the musical theatre, and the 1995 Clifton Ko film, she hopes to put together the elements of the three versions in her new production to create more spark.

Michelle revealed that the movie, to be directed by Clifton, will begin filming in November this year with the expected budget of HKD50 million (approximately USD6.4 million).

For the time being, the producer is looking for actors from Hong Kong, Taiwan, and mainland China with singing ability to star in the film.

Originally written by dramatist Raymond To, "I Have a Date With Spring" tells the story of four female characters, Butterfly, Lulu, Nancy, and Fung Ping, who each has her own tales of love and loss.
