Maxene Magalona nearly quits showbiz

3 Nov - Maxene Magalona recently admitted that she nearly quit showbiz during the early days of the pandemic, seeing that filming work was shutting down left and right.

As reported on ABS-CBN, the actress, who spoke to the media during the virtual conference for her new series, "Viral Scandal", stated that she was telling herself at one point that it would be okay if she receives no acting offers again.

"At that time, I didn't think about whether or not I would get an offer. I wasn't really pressuring myself," she said of that period before she was offered the series, having already set out a Plan B of focusing on being a yoga instructor.

Seeing it as a blessing, Maxene stated that it felt like it was meant to be.

"I did not refuse it because it was a blessing, and at the same time, it felt like a sign from God that I need to continue, and I really do love acting," she said.

The upcoming series, which will tackle social issues particularly on the topic of social media, follows Rica (Charlie Dizon), whose life takes a turn after she was caught in a sensitive viral video.

The series will begin airing on 15 November and co-stars Jake Cuenca, Joshua Garcia, Jameson Blake, Miko Raval and many more.
