Mawi distributes RM200k worth of bonuses to cast and crew of "Zim Zim Ala Kazim"

13 Dec - Multi-hyphenate star Mawi recently revealed that his company has churned out an amount of nearly RM200,000 to be distributed as a bonus to the cast and crew of Mawi World Entertainment's film, "Zim Zim Ala Kazim".

The singer-turned-filmmaker, who spoke to the media at a special event held to award these bonuses to his team, stated that the amount shared with the cast and crew was to fulfil the promise he made to them prior to the movie's release in cinemas.

It is noted that the film was originally a made-for-TV movie to be released on Astro First, before it was decided that it should be released in cinemas - where it made RM3.5 million at the box office.

"I also want to be transparent and fair to the actors and crew by distributing bonuses as promised to them before and I want everyone to be happy," he said.

As to his next project, Mawi said that his company is planning to produce a sequel to the film next year.

"I did discuss with Ustaz Kazim [Elias] about producing a sequel to this film after the first one was well received by the audience. This time, we plan to create a serious storyline without comedy elements by featuring four more black magic that was sent his way, which is a story that has not been told before," he said.

"Zim Zim Ala Kazim", which was released back in June, stars Datuk Ustaz Kazim Elias, Mawi, Bell Ngasri, Anas Tahir, Elvina Chuah, and Zarina Anjoulie among others, and is based on a true story experienced by Datuk Ustaz Kazim.
