Louisa Mak hopes the public will forgive Luk Ho Ming
21 Feb – Louisa Mak recently expressed her support for TV personality Luk Ho Ming, and pleaded for viewers to forgive him over the blunder he previously made on the TVB show, "Young and Restless".
As reported on Mingpao, the actress shared a screenshot of Luk making the mistake of saying that Hong Kong was the source of SARS back in 2003, and stated, "Luk Ho Ming was my senior for several years. He has taken care of his juniors very well. On several occasions in the past, Crystal Fung and I would also make mistakes. But of course, when it comes to conscience, you can't be influenced by personal feelings."
Louisa said that she understands that the mistake Luk made was serious, but that he has already apologised for it.
"Let's put it this way. Imagine this is a general office. If people are [being punished] for putting words incorrectly, how many people would have to resign from their work?" she added.
The actress added that the mistake was not Luk's own, but the whole team's responsibility, from the editor to the people responsible for the subtitles. She then expressed hope that people will have it in their hearts to forgive the actor.
Luk sparked anger among Hong Kong netizens recently when he made a slip up of saying that the 2003 SARS epidemic originated from Hong Kong, instead of Guangzhou on the previous episode of the said show before being corrected by co-host Crystal Fung. He had since apologised to the viewers twice on social media and in public.
