Leo Wang is happy for his first GMA Male Vocalist win
1 Jul – Taiwanese rapper Leo Wang was ecstatic to be named Best Mandarin Male Vocalist at the Golden Melody Awards, seeing that it was his first ever nomination in the category.
As reported on World Journal, the rapper, who bested nominees like Li Ronghao ("Ear") and Kowen Ko ("Songs of the Bards"), expressed his gratitude for being lucky enough to be a performer in Taiwan.
"[Here] I can create whatever I want and I think as an artist that is the most important thing," he said.
Leo also admitted that he was happy that his decision to drop out of the National Taiwan University for his music has finally borne fruit for him despite his mother's initial misgivings.
"I love to perform live. That kind of happiness is irreplaceable," he said.
He also jokingly sent a message to his mother saying, "I love you, mum. But that doesn't mean that I will listen to you."
