28 Sep - Lea Salonga has recently been named one of TIME100 Impact Awards' honorees.
The magazine described Lea as "not only a Disney and Broadway icon, but a role model for children of colour."
In the interview, Lea stated that she relies on her sense of humour to stay sane in her efforts to break down racial barriers in her field.
"Back home, we call it cariño brutal," she stated.
The musical icon, who has lent her vocals to iconic Disney animated features "Aladdin" and "Mulan", stated that she hopes to one day see a Filipina joining the list of Disney princesses.
The TIME100 Impact Awards "recognise leaders who, through sustained effort, have done extraordinary work to shape the future of their industries and the world at large."
