Kit Harrington, Gemma Chan confirmed to join Angelina Jolie's MCU movie

Kit Harrington and Gemma Chan are the latest additions to MCU's "Eternals".

26 Aug – Recently at the D23 expo, the entire main cast of Marvel Studios' upcoming "Eternals" took to the stage to give fans a first look at their characters' costumes in the movie.

Among the cast standing on stage were "Game of Thrones'" Kit Harrington and "Crazy Rich Asians'" Gemma Chan, as reported by ComingSoon.Net.

Harrington, who starred as Jon Snow in the aforementioned series that wrapped last May after eight seasons, will be playing a non-Eternal character, namely Dane Whitman a.k.a. Black Knight. The character wields a cursed sword in the comics, inherited, along with his title, from his former Avengers villain uncle.

He is also the on-again-off-again love interest of Sersi, one of the Eternals. In the movie, Sersi is set to be portrayed by Gemma Chan, who was rumoured to be in talks for an unknown role earlier this month and has now indeed been confirmed as part of the main cast.

While this marks Harrington's MCU debut, Chan has previously appeared in another MCU title, playing an entirely different character, that is Minn-Erva in this year's "Captain Marvel".

The duo joins a cast led by Angelina Jolie and Richard Madden, who star as Thena and Ikaris, respectively.

Meanwhile, Kumail Nanjiani will co-star as Kingo, Don Lee as Gilgamesh, Lauren Ridloff as Makkari, Salma Hayek as Ajak, Lia McHugh as Sprite, and Brian Tyree Henry as Phastos. Henry reportedly dropped out of the sequel to "A Quiet Place" to join "Eternals", while Ridloff not only marks the first deaf actress to play a Marvel superhero, it of course also marks the first deaf superhero to appear in the MCU.

"Eternals", to be directed by Chloe Zhao from a script by Matthew K. Firpo and Ryan Firpo, is slated for release in North American cinemas on 6 November 2020.
