Kento Nagayama pleads guilty to drug possession

30 Aug – Kento Nagayama has pleaded guilty to cannabis possession.

As reported on Mingpao, the Japanese actor's legal rep is seeking a suspended sentence for him as the prosecution hopes for a six-month jail sentence. The verdict will be given by the judge this Friday.

Kento was arrested back in June for possessing more than 1.6g of the drugs at his residence in Meguro, Tokyo. He was released on bail in July.

Confessing to his drug use, Kento stated that he first used cannabis when he was in the second year of high school, and became a user again at 19.

"I used drugs to relieve work pressure and help me sleep. After the arrest, I lost my job and friends, and it really hurts me," he said.

Kento also hopes that he will get forgiveness from the outside world and continue his work as an actor in the future.
